If you have just started a business, you need to know that there are many ways to market your business, and this approach may be your most powerful tool.We built our business in Virginia in four years exclusively through business relationships and inside referrals. When we sold our award winning business in 2006, we had ten therapists working for us, and an extensive clientele database. Our Power Partners were the relationships with other businesses which provided us a constant stream of new clients. We referred tons of business to other local merchants and service businesses...in this deal, givers get their effort back ten fold. These groups are great resources for local businesses. One Warning...they are not for short-timers. These strategies work best when you develop relationships with those you are in the network groups with, and you work with the process for the long term result. The people who rush into a group to gather as many sales as they can in the shortest possible time are the ones we call 'hunters'. You may get some leads, but your over-eagerness to close the sale may also be seen as pushy sales tactics. The 'farmers' are the business people who cultivate their relationships with others and develop long lasting business relationships, which grow over time. Groups like these are for farmers...go forth and sow your crops... :) Since frequently people we meet ask what we are involved in, I'll give you the run-down. Currently we are involved in several networking groups. We both attend Fort Collins Chamber events, and are both involved in the Red Carpet Committee. We each have a leads group we work with. We also launched the Women's Networking Luncheon, Coffee Quest and the Moms Networking Coffee. We also do work with a number of non-profits to increase their exposure and raise funds for their organizations.
